Lads Hair Cuts

Our Lads stylist Michael Finnan specialises in barbering and young hair styles - from the latest Squared Crew Cut to a 12” Mohican…!!

Michael has a real flair for barbering and demonstrated his commitment to his trade in a very real way.

Michael says “I was taught barbering by a lady barber who has got to be the best barber around by far. I saw her work, skill and techniques and have never seen anything like it since. I offered to work for her without pay for 12 months and she handed down her skills and ideas to me……. I think I got a really good deal…….!!

I was taught specifically in Afro Caribbean hairstyles - including Afros, Fades and Flat Tops.”

The John Cena or the Dizzee Rascal...?
The Big Cut for 2007 is the Shaped Crew Cut. The young lads will come in and ask for a ‘John Cena’, the older lads ask for the ‘Dizzee Rascal’. Whether they want to look like the wrestler or the Rapper its the same cut.

Michael - “Like most barbered hair cuts, there is the right way and the other way to do this.

If they come to me here at Trimmers I will use a cut throat razor (don’t worry mum's - I know what I am doing...!) to give them a perfect hairline. This way the cut lasts longer and there is no stubble left which happens if clippers are used - and it ruins the whole effect the lads are looking for.”

Speed Cutting
We know that lads lead busy, fast paced lives. They don't work by 'appointments' but they don’t like to sit for ages in a queue either. Michael specialises in Speed Cutting, where the lads call in without appointment, have a short wait for their turn, get their speed cut and away they go. Using speed cutting, which is proving to be very popular, we have halved the queues on the busiest days of Friday and Saturday.
