Hair Straightening - An Overview
2009 brings plenty of new hair style trends. One of the biggest trends this year is the short and daring crop. This has been sported on various celebrities such as Katie Holmes and Victoria Beckham. It should be well styled and worn straight, it is important that the style has no kinks. Most hair types will require hair straighteners to achieve this flawless shiny look. The hottest mid length style this year will be the long bob with a fringe. This has been sported by Jessica Alba in recent weeks and is relatively easy to pull off. This works well because the classic bob is transformed into a edgy and modern style when combined with a long fringe. This look is best worn sleek and shiny. A cropped bob is another alternative that livens up the style, you should go very short for a daring confident look. The fringe will be extremely popular this year. It works best cut long just above the eyes and fairly heavy. It is important to keep the fringe extremely straight but this can b

combined with long loose waves for a stunning look. Long hair will be the ultimate hair trend in 2009. Loose waves creating a sexy tousled look will be big. However, straight, sleek locks are still very much in fashion. You can mix and match between straight and tousled to add diversity to your look. However, you should also take into account your face shape and the texture of your hair when deciding whether to go big and voluminous or straight and sleek.
To straighten your hair always make sure you use a decent pair of hair straighteners. There are different types of hair straighteners each having their own pros and cons. Some hair straighteners have a steam iron, this means you can have a big puff of air whilst styling. This can be very good to provide extra shine and easy styling. However, it is not good for those with frizzy or very curly hair as the humidity can cause frizz. Another option is Ceramic hair straighteners. These are extremely popular as they heat up very quickly and produce a smooth and shiny look, they work very well on very curly hair. However, are viewed as very expensive. Ionic hair straighteners are also an excellent option. They work using negative ions to lock moisture and natural oils into your hair, this improves its condition.
Much like other quality items such as Prada designer clothes or Gucci, hair straighteners can be expensive, but a good investment. However, hair straightening can damage your hair, particularly if your straighteners are of a low quality and does not have any special features. It is therefore important to ensure you use a special heat protection spray if you regularly use heated appliances. You can also find specifically designed conditioning treatments that target hair that has been damaged by heated appliances.

How To Grow And Care For Your Hair
By Emma Kelly
Long hair makes a woman feel feminine and glamorous. Most men love long hair.
Many women have long unkempt hair because they think their man will be furious
if they have it cut off!
Long, shiny, healthy hair is the ultimate accessory. However, for many of us,
expensive salons are out of our reach. So how do we grow our hair long?
Hair grows from the follicles in your scalp and grows in a random pattern. There
will be live hair growing and also hair lying dormant which will eventually fall
out. Hair grows approximately half an inch per month.
Hair that doesn't seem to grow very long can unfortunately be down to the type
of hair you have, for example curly, rather than it being poorly treated. However,
a lot of people do mistreat their hair and there are lots of things you can do
and treatments you can use to ensure your hair grows healthy.
All growing hair splits because when the hair becomes dry, it starts to unravel
like a rope. The only thing you can do to get rid of split ends is to cut them
off to prevent further damage to the hair. Many people are afraid to have this
done in case their hair is cut too short. Removing split ends yourself is pretty
simple to do. Hold the hair about half an inch in diameter thickness and twist
between your fingers until you see the damaged ends. Snip off the split hair and
other damaged hair with the tip of the scissors. If you move around your hair
in this way you will remove the split ends but not cut any length off your hair.
Other treatments you can use are heat conditioning treatments. When blow drying
or using hot hair straighteners or tongs and rollers always use a heat protector
spray.
